A high tea for Women’s Day

CRAIGHALL - With soothing massage sessions and delectable treats to nibble on, women from various businesses were pampered ahead of Women's Day at Hands on Retreat.

The spa facility, owned by Hands on Treatment, hosted their annual Women’s Day High Tea, this time under the theme What is your Why. The event took place at the establishment in Craighall.

Martina Laurie, CEO of Hands on Treatment, explained the reason behind hosting the high tea specifically for women. “I want it to be about all of us as women and [for it to be about] the celebration and empowerment of women entrepreneurs,” she explained.

“It’s also about bringing women together from different industries to network and share ideas; after all, sharing is caring.”

Laurie also spoke briefly on her ‘why’, being the motivation behind what she does, explaining that as the years went on, her need to empower women entrepreneurs became stronger and she wanted to do more for them.

She further stressed the importance of skills development, mentioning the need to assist unemployed women in finding sustainable ways to earn an income.

Other women present at the event were also given the opportunity to share their motivation, with Nina Pieters of Events Extra-ordinary saying the highlight was affecting another person’s life in a positive way.

“It’s such a treat to make another person’s day and to have people wanting to learn from us and our work,” she said.
