IRS investigate housing scam

JOBURG - Following a local school employee who became a victim of an alleged RDP housing scam, IRS Forensic Investigations have looked into the case.

The North Eastern Tribune accompanied IRS investigator Paul Farrow and the victim of the housing scam, Joel Mahlatji, to Winnie Mandela Park in Tembisa on 4 August to meet with the relevant ward councillor.

The ward councillor, who cannot be named, agreed that the victim’s paperwork was in order, confirming that the stand belonged to the victim. It is the considered opinion of IRS that the victim had been defrauded out of his property. The councillor promised to escalate the matter to the provincial office of human settlement.
