Job seeker drives off in victim’s car

ORANGE GROVE - A shocking event turned out to have a positive ending.

When Orange Grove resident, Peter Ringdahl, reversed out of his driveway and was attempting to close his gate, an unknown male approached him asking for a job.

Upon declining the request, the male got into the car and drove off.

Ringdahl said, “The male got between the car and myself and he left with my car.”

A pool technician, who happened to be on the street at the time, noticed what was going on and followed the stolen vehicle.

Ringdahl said, “My vehicle has an immobiliser that cuts the engine off after 10 minutes.” According to Ringdahl, when the car cut out, the male fled the scene.

“The technician drove back to my house and let us know where my car was. A family member accompanied him to fetch my car.”

“I really do thank the pool technician who helped me retrieve my car. I feel that the world is full of bad news – but this is something positive.”
