More than just 67 minutes

JOBURG - South African cement company PPC partnered with Time For Change (TFC) on 14 July to do their part for Mandela Day, however the company's philanthropy extended much longer than just 67 minutes.

Founded by Barbara Hill, TFC is a safe haven which provides a safe and educational environment for street children and rehabilitated sex workers.

“Mandela Day offers each of us as South Africans the opportunity to reflect on our contribution to the country and society, and highlights how our collective efforts are able to bring real change for communities that need it most,” said PPC CEO Darryll Castle.

Executive members of the company spent almost 24 hours in the shoes of the less fortunate, to experience the hardships faced by the majority of South Africans and furthermore, be able to give back for Mandela Day in a special way.

The members spent the day at TFC interacting with and assisting residents of the shelter with baking and sewing. The residents make products to generate income for themselves.

“We remain very grateful to PPC for its ongoing support and the business guidance it has shared with us over the years,” said Hill.
