702 Walk the Talk

EMMARENTIA - The annual 702 Walk the Talk took place at Marks Park Sports Club on 26 July.

Walkers were encouraged to walk for a cause, with many participants walking to raise awareness of the high crime level, drug abuse and women and children abuse, to name a few.

The event was supported by government officials and political activists together with about 50 000 South Africans who braved the cold morning to walk for a cause.

After the national anthem was sung, walkers began the 15km walk at 7.30am where 702 Radio had MCs placed. Radio presenter Aki Anastasiou cheered the participants on as they passed through the start line.

Participants either walked in the 15km, 8km or 5km race and received medals after completing the various distances.

The event ended with a mini concert with DJs who played for the crowd.
