Euphonik speaks out

JOBURG - Almost three years since the story of alleged abuse was broken by Bonang Matheba, Euphonik has broken his silence and refutes the TV hosts abuse claims.

It’s coming up to the third anniversary since the assault charge was made against beloved South Africa DJ Euphonik, by TV host Bonang Matheba, and finally Euphonik has responded to the accusations.

The story was laid to rest shortly after the claims were made, as the couple reconciled and continued to date for a short time.

Euphonik was included in the Marie Claire In Her Shoes campaign this year – the catalyst which sparked the media frenzy regarding the abuse allegations of 2012. The campaign’s message is that it takes a man to stand up against the abuse of women.

The inclusion of the Joburg store owner in the campaign was the issue that got tongues wagging in light of the claims against him.

In his exposé, he answers a number of questions, including the state of their relationship and the alleged abuse by him and towards him by former girlfriend Matheba.

“Were we emotionally and verbally abusive towards each other? Yes.”

“Did I physically abuse my then-girlfriend? No. Not at all. This she lied about.”

He answers a number of other questions in his story and explains the reasons why he was taken on by Marie Claire during their anti-abuse campaign.

In his story, he also added a link to the affidavit that was used in the court proceedings of 2012 in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.

Neither Euphonik nor his PR manager has been available to answer any further questions.

Marie Claire has come under fire since the start of the campaign, however, they stand in solidarity with the DJ, explaining that he has grown and the actions in his past should not determine his future.
