Wits Business School delivers hope on Mandela Day
JOBURG - Wits Business School staff and students recently donated books from their school library to the Maharishi Institute in Marshalltown, as well as clothing and food items to the Home of Hope in Hillbrow on Mandela Day.
The Maharishi Institute is a non-profit organisation established in 2007 which provides financial assistance for students to achieve their qualifications with distance education while gaining work experience.
The Home of Hope is a shelter for the rehabilitation of girls who have been abused or neglected. The home takes in girls from places of danger and relocates them to a nurturing environment.
Professor Steve Bluen, the head of Wits Business School, explained how the school contributes to the local community and how he is enthusiastic about being an active citizen.
“We encourage active citizenship and community involvement in both staff and students of the school, and Mandela Day is just one way we like to contribute to organisations in our local community.”
