The world according to pets

JOBURG - It rained cats and dogs in Midrand over the weekend of 17 to 19 July during the World of Cats and Dogs 20th anniversary exhibition.

The exhibition, which took place at Gallagher Convention Centre, featured 32 of the top South African dog breeds and 64 of the top South African cat breeds.

If woofs and meows weren’t your cup of tea, there were equine displays, rabbit and guinea pig care classes and koi displays on offer. And for those who really like to walk on the wild side, Burmese pythons, iguanas and hedgehogs also featured.

The exhibition hosted a wide variety of pet food and accessory suppliers who offered competitive exhibition prices.

As acclaimed author Michael Morpugo said, “Animals are sentient, intelligent, perceptive, funny and entertaining. We owe them a duty of care as we do to children.”
