Family establishes memorial garden at Ron Smith Care Centre

JOBURG - Ron Smith Care Centre resident, Ernesto Scotti, passed away on 18 June, and in memory of his life, his family established a memorial garden in the expansive grounds of the care centre where he spent the last two years of his life.

Ernesto Scotti’s daughter, Daniela said, “We wanted to create a place where people can sit among the roses. For us, certainly, in memory of my dad, but also for residents, staff, volunteers or visitors who are in need of a little rest, stillness or reflection.”

According to the centre, the family will be able to visit whenever they feel the need to sit and reflect on the man who was so pivotal in their lives.

“The grounds at Elphin Lodge and Ron Smith Care Centre certainly provided that for us during my father’s time here, he often commented on how beautiful they were and this is just our little contribution in memory and in gratitude,” added Daniela.
