Sandton SPCA mobile clinic to visit Hillbrow

HILLBROW - Thanks to a successful educational day at Marlboro Primary School in Alexandra on 20 June, the Sandton SPCA will now hold mobile clinic days in Hillbrow and Troyville.

According to general manager of Sandton SPCA, Candice Scorer, the SPCA was able to provide 5-in-1 vaccines against various diseases to more than 400 dogs as well as rabies vaccines, food, bedding, collars, leads and other important and necessary animal enrichment items.

Scorer said, “Our mobile clinic has been in existence for more than five years but requires full time funding which currently we do not have and days like these are made possible through generous donations from individuals. This particular day was sponsored in memory of Nancy Brown, a great animal lover and huge supporter of the Sandton SPCA who recently lost her battle with cancer.”

According to Scorer, the most important part of these days is educating pet owners.

“Handing out cups of hot chocolate, we spent some time with each owner talking about how they can improve things for their animals, what to look out for and when to come and visit the SPCA shelter,” added scorer.

The Sandton SPCA is urging the public to sponsor one of these days and to assist them in keeping the clinic running on a day-to-day basis.
