From the purr of an engine to a purr of happiness

PARKTOWN NORTH - TWO months on after the Rosebank Killarney Gazette reported on two kittens which were found in the engine compartment of a car, both have been adopted by Parktown North resident Jennifer Schafer.

Schafer said after she read the article, she went to see the two kittens who were taken in by animal shelter Cat-o-holics in Rosebank. This after they were found by Rosebank resident Ingrid Mech, who explained that the kittens sought shelter from the heavy rain in Secunda by climbing into the undercarriage of her car. Mech, who had visited Mpumalanga on business, only discovered them days after she had returned home.

Despite their horrific experience, Schafer said both kittens were extremely playful and had now come out of their shells. “Both kittens have really come into their own and have wonderful personalities. They are very happy and naughty kittens,” she said.

“I am very happy that I chose them and gave them a chance.”

Schafer has named the kittens Huxley and Nietzsche.
