Wrap your head around Migraine Awareness Month

JOBURG - Many people suffer from crippling headaches and migraines on a daily basis, so during Migraine Awareness Month, the Migraine Research Institute will attempt to answer some important questions about the affliction.

The goal of Migraine Awareness Month, which is June each year, is not only to raise awareness about the condition, but also to educate the public and reduce the stigma associated with it.

The theme for this year is inspiring hope, and with that, specialists and clinics around the globe will attempt to give sufferers of migraines hope by answering some important questions regarding the illness.

Migraine awareness is symbolised by wearing a purple ribbon to show solidarity for building awareness about the issue.

The institute and The Headache Clinic will answer the following questions, among others, this month:

Q I’m scared it could be a brain tumor, how would I know?

Q Is it a chronic condition?

Q Do I have to take medication for the rest of my life?

Q What side effects will I get from the medication I am taking?

Q If I have migraines, will my children suffer from them too?

Q Could the trauma of a migraine affect my pregnancy?

Q I have migraines, but I was prescribed antidepressants, is there a link between the two?

Q Exercise makes my migraines worse, does this mean I must stop exercising?

Q When I get a migraine, why do I feel nauseous?

You can get your questions answered and help the cause by addressing your questions to The Headache Clinic.
