Important Linksfield development notice

LINKSFIELD - Bokamoso Environmental and Century Property Developments has released a notice for all those interested in, and affected by, the proposed construction of the Linksfield mixed-use township development.

Authorisation has been granted for the proposed township which will comprise educational and commercial facilities, showrooms, business and retail outlets, shops, restaurants, hotels and offices.

The plans also include about 8 400 residential units, which equates to a density of 160 units per hectare to accommodate a residential population of about 28 000 people. The site will also include 800 000m2 of commercial development and it is claimed that about 25 000 permanent employment opportunities will be created from this.

The property on which the development is based includes associated infrastructure portions 87, 148, 149 and the remainder of portion 1 of the farm Rietfontein 61.

In terms of Regulation 10 (2) of the 2010 Amended EIA (Environment Impact Assessment) Regulations, all registered, interested and affected parties must be notified within 12 days of the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s decision to grant environmental authorisation.

Those who wish to appeal to any elements of the proposal or decision should lodge a notice of intention to appeal with the member of the executive council within 20 days from 17 June.

Those who wish to appeal should do so by faxing their appeal to 011 240 3158/2700, or posting it to The Appeals Administrator, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; P.O. Box 8769, Johannesburg, 2000. Appeals can be hand-delivered to The Appeals Administrator, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; 11 Diagonal Street, 4th Floor Diamond Building, Newtown.
