New clothes make Happy Hearts

JOHANNEBSURG – The children at Rainbow Children’s Home will have fresh clothes this winter thanks to Happy Hearts, a Black Sheep Media initiative that will be kick-starting the goodwill of Youth Month.

The initiative will give the youngsters a unique shopping experience through a fashion pop-up store that will provide them with new clothes free of charge. After shopping up a storm, they will be treated to a lunchtime party with delicious treats at Impact HUB in Braamfontein.

Celebrity actress, mother and Generations soapie veteran, Katlego Danke has partnered with Happy Hearts for the cause.

“We all know what it’s like to go to sleep the night before your birthday or Christmas Day, knowing that there are gifts waiting to be opened just for you. To bring that joy to a child who has never had that feeling is a great honour.”

The Rainbow Children’s Home is a safe house for children who have been placed into the care of NGO Women of Vision by the courts. The organisation is committed to restoring dignity and respect to children through sustainable programmes. While they often receive donations of hand-me-down clothes, this initiative is encouraging the public to donate new merchandise to provide a dignified experience for the youngsters in an effort to improve their childhood.

“Giving most times feels like such a selfish thing to do purely because of how good you feel when you give to others,” said Danke.

“But most importantly I would like to see this sort of project repeated with other children’s homes and more companies getting involved with the donating of clothes.”

Rainbow Children’s Home founder and house mother, Sophie Okeke expressed her gratitude. “Thank you to Happy Hearts and those who have donated to this special day for their love and support. Our children’s journey through life is filled with light when the community helps us create a better life for them.”

Happy Hearts is calling on the public for warm, fashionable donations to help develop the initiative and share the joy of owning new clothing with the youth of South Africa.
