Woman robbed at knifepoint, one suspect quickly arrested

YEOVILLE - A MAN was arrested soon after he and a male accomplice robbed a woman at knifepoint.

He was caught on the corner of Regent and Kenmere streets in Yeoville on 31 May.

Constable Thabo Malatji of Yeoville police said, “One of the suspects was apprehended by police and some of the victim’s property was retrieved alongside the knife that was used to threaten the victim.”

According to a statement made by Malatji, the suspects took the victim’s cellphone, cash and her identity book. She then saw police and notified them of the incident. Police went in search of the men and apprehended one of them.

He is expected to appear in Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court soon on charges of robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon.
