No fowl play for wandering Craighall Park chicken

CRAIGHALL PARK - "The chickens come home to roost" is an idiom that held a literal meaning for one resident.

Gill Spargo keeps chickens on her property for their eggs. On 21 May, one of the chickens affectionately named as Brenda, escaped presumably through a hole in the fence.

Spargo took to social media and appealed to neighbours to keep a look out for her runaway chicken, and stated that she was afraid that Brenda might get eaten. She also did not want her other chicken Josephine to be alone.

Fortunately for Spargo, her chicken returned willingly several hours later.

“I don’t know how she got out, she obviously went walk about, but she came back in the evening,” said Spargo.

According to Spargo, Brenda was subsequently taken to the vet as she did not appear to be feeling well.
