VIDEO: KFC employee sharpens knives on pavement

JOBURG – KFC South Africa is under fire once again as a staff member from a branch in Umhlanga, KwaZulu Natal, was filmed sharpening knives on the pavement.

News24.com reported that the footage was filmed by Ashrana Chanderanberg from the balcony of a hotel opposite the KFC branch.

Watch the video of a KFC Umhlanga staff member sharpening knives on the pavement:

It was then posted on a restaurant review page on Facebook, along with Chanderanberg’s comment: “This is what happens every morning @KFC Coastlands Umhlanga…. We residence [sic] off Horizon view and Ridgeton Towers back of KFC Coastlands instead of awakening to the smell of KFC we awaken by this agonizing sounds of sharpening knives….”

This comes to light a few weeks after KFC staff members in Braamfontein were filmed washing chicken pieces on a concrete floor with a hose.

News24.com also reported that KFC manager Cookie Naik said she knew nothing about the alleged practice or the video, before referring queries to KFC head office.

Attempts to obtain comment from KFC’s corporate headquarters were unsuccessful at the time of publishing.
