Taxi crash on Jan Smuts

WESTWOLD - Reports have come in of an accident involving a taxi and a motor vehicle on Jan Smuts Avenue in Westwold on the morning of 21 May.

According to an eyewitness at the scene, the accident occurred at 6.30 am on 21 May when the white Toyota corolla, which had been driving on Jan Smuts Avenue tried to overtake the Metrobus across a solid line. The corolla collided with the bus from the side and started to spin, colliding with a taxi which was in the adjacent road, Westwold Way.

Metro bus representatives were at the scene of the crash.

The bus was still driveable and drove away from the scene.

Five taxi passengers were injured in the accident, four women and one man.

They were assessed and treated for minor injuries and were transported to hospital for further medical care by ER24 paramedics.

According to an eyewitness the accident involved a taxi, white Toyota corolla and a Metro bus.

The bus is currently blocking Jan Smuts Avenue.
