Police clean-up results in 40 arrests along Braamfontein Spruit

CRAIGHALL PARK - A total of 40 suspects were recently arrested along the Braamfontein Spruit between Milpark and Craighall Park in a clean-up by Parkview police and security company CSS Tactical.

Police confirmed that 40 suspects were arrested for various crimes ranging from possession of dagga, possession of stolen property, possession of implements to steal cables and possession of dangerous weapons.

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck said, “This kind of operation is needed often,” he said.

According to Parkview police spokesperson Lloyd Ramovha, this is one of many operations that will target criminals in and around the area.

“The aim of the operation is to rid the Braamfontein Spruit of undesired and criminal characters. We have often received reports of criminals using the spruit as a hideout after committing a crime,” he said.

Ramovha added that the operation was a joint effort with security companies in the area.
