UPDATE: Woman throws herself from Hyde Park hotel

HYDE PARK - A WOMAN has died after allegedly jumping from a balcony of a room in a hotel next to Hyde Park Corner shopping centre.

UPDATE: 18 May 2015, 10am – Provincial police spokesperson Kay Makhubela confirmed that at about 11am on 17 May, a woman went to the eighth floor of the Southern Sun hotel in Hyde Park and apparently jumped off the balcony of a room.

Makhubela stated that paramedics pronounced her dead on the scene and the police were currently investigating.

Priya Naidoo, general manager of Group Communications at Tsogo Sun said, “We can confirm that the police are currently investigating the incident. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased.”

Initial report: 17 May 2015, 8:30pm – The EWN report states that paramedics and emergency services staff were trying to resuscitate the woman when police arrived.

Provincial police spokesperson Kay Makhubela was quoted as saying that the woman’s motive was unknown, and that the police are investigating an inquest docket.
