Man sentenced to life for cutting off nose and murdering girlfriend

YEOVILLE - A man has been sentenced to life in prison for murder in the North Gauteng High Court on 7 May.

The 27-year-old suspect was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend on 22 July last year.

Constable Thabo Malatji of Yeoville police said, “This is an achievement for the police. This case was horrific. I would like to congratulate my colleagues for a sound case which led to the conviction of this individual.”

The suspect stabbed the victim with a screw driver and cut off her nose. He then tried to flee the scene. Members of the community alerted the police and the suspect was arrested.
