Important Domestic Watch meetings in May

ROSEBANK - The topic for Domestic Watch meetings in May will be Taking care – Home and Telephone.

Penny Steyn, founder of Domestic Watch stated that in the past few months she has had several panic calls from some of her attendees who were a little unsure on who to call.

“So this will be an important lesson for all to know exactly who to call, prioritising and maximising on the limited phone calls they can make,” said Steyn.

This month’s meeting will also ensure that all the new South African Police Sector numbers are given out.

Steyn asserted that when people are equipped with knowing exactly what to do and who to call in any potential or actual crime situation, the worst possible outcomes can be averted.

“So for some [the lesson] will be reinforcing, reminders, changes in contact numbers, adding to their contact lists of who can help and giving them directions and options to do something. For the loads of new folk who have started attending this year it will be an absolutely essential lesson.”

Steyn said that domestic workers and gardeners are sometimes underestimated. “They know when something is amiss, [when] something or someone doesn’t belong in their neighbourhood,” she said.

“Certainly, they need to know who they can phone when they see or find out about a criminal, so that they can give very clear important information to the right people to act.”
