Inyoni Creek resident turns 90

LYNDHURST - Resident of Rand Aid Association’s Inyoni Creek retirement village, Helen Young Pugh, turned 90 on 28 April. A tea party was prepared for her and her many friends, followed by a family gathering over the weekend.

Pugh did her BSC Honours through Wits before obtaining a Higher Education Diploma at a teacher training college. She qualified in the mid ‘140s and taught mainly primary school pupils. She taught at Florida Park High for awhile too.

“I loved interacting with the children and helping them reach their full potential.” In addition to loving interacting with children, Pugh has four children of her own who have blessed her with seven grandchildren. “I feel blessed to have had such a privileged life, all the main things went so well.”

Pugh and her cocker spaniel-mix, Sandy, have been happy residents of the village for the past eight years.
