Tour to the top called off

JOBURG - One brave woman's attempt to reach the top of Mount Everest has ended in disappointment, after being called off as a result of the devastating earthquakes and avalanches that have struck the area.

Joburg resident, Katlego Letheo, tweeted this morning that the China Tibet Mountaineering Association (CTMA) “has announced that all mountains in Tibet will be closed this season.”

“It’s all over. Thanks 4 all support‚” she tweeted.

The earthquake that has devastated Nepal is hot on the lips of people the world over, with teams rallying together to provide assistance to those in need.

Letheo was not the only person who was not able to complete her summit after the terrible natural disaster that occurred.

Saray Khumalo and Sean Wisedale’s journeys to the top are probably also over, with the world awaiting official comment from them.

This, however, is not the end of their mountain climbing journeys.
