Calling all wine lovers to Sandton

SANDTON - Going into its tenth consecutive year, the Tops at Spar Wine Show is set to be an amazing spectacle with great wine and great company at the Sandton Convention Centre from 7 to 9 May.

The show’s founder, John Woodward said, “Ten years is not too shabby for a show that started with just a handful of exhibitors. Since then we’ve sold over R24-million worth of fine wine straight from the show’s floor.

“But that’s so last decade. Now we’re looking forward to the next 10 and – having partnered with the experienced event team from the national Tops at Spar Bierfest festivals – aim to grow the show into an interactive wine experience bar none.”

The wine show will see a number of activities, including the popular Wine Extra Theatre, which is a series of entertaining educational talks about wine and its booming industry. The event will also host a talented ensemble of street performers and modern musicians.

Woodward added, “The show isn’t just a wine exhibition; it’s an experience that all lovers of fine wine – from seasoned foodies who are looking for the perfect pair to share at their next dinner party, to newbies who have recently discovered the world of wine.”

Hundreds of exhibitors, including award-winners Eagles’Nest, Rainbow’s End and Vriesenhof, will be on show at this year’s event.

Responsible consumption is also front and centre this year with the establishment of the #Drinksmart initiative spearheaded by Tops at Spar’s mobile phone app DRYVER. It provides visitors with a range of safe and affordable choices to drink responsibly and get home safely.

“This year marks the start of a new chapter in the show’s history,” said Woodward.

“We’re excited to welcome Jozi wine lovers to experience the world of fine wine in an atmospheric setting designed to entertain.”
