VIDEO: Protest against xenophobia in Dunkeld

DUNKELD - A protest is currently taking place in Dunkeld by a group of people who are against xenophobia.

A group of protestors have gathered at the corner of Bompass Road and Jan Smuts Avenue to protest the xenophobic attacks taking place in South Africa.

The protesters are holding signs up, urging motorists driving by to hoot if they are against xenophobia.

The group protesting are from an organisation called Heartlines, which encourages South Africans to live with positive values.

CEO of Heartlines, Garth Japhet said, “We encourage every citizen of this country to find out how they can take part in anti-xenophobia campaigns where they are, and if there are none, [to] start something and let us and let us take a visible stand against it.”

Numerous motorists passing by showed support by hooting to show that they are against xenophobia.

Japhet added, “We were blown away by the support of the motorists. The hooting is incredible.”
