Changes made for pensioner rebates on city rates

ROSEBANK - PENSIONERS will be able to claim rebates on their City of Joburg rates if they fulfil certain conditions.

Every year the City of Johannesburg introduces new tariffs set to come into effect on 1 July and changes to certain policies are also made.

According to Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck, changes have been made for categories of residents who qualify for rates rebates.

Truluck stated that previously the City would grant senior citizens over 60 years old rates rebates that would have to be renewed every two years. This criteria has now changed to every four years.

Truluck listed the requirements for senior residents eligible for rebates on their properties.
