King Edward’s athletes excel in championships

HOUGHTON - ATHLETES from King Edwards School excelled in the both the Gauteng Secondary Schools Championships and the National Club Championships that took place during March and April.

At the Gauteng Championships, Motome Shabangu was placed third in the high jump category for U15, while Phumulani Sibisi was placed fifth in the high jump category for U19.

Fellow teammate Themba Mpemvu got third place in the U17 long jump category with a distance of 7.05 metres.

KES pupil Patrick Duvehage came first in shot put at 19.17 metres and second in discus with a distance of 58.96 metres.

At the National Club Championships, Motome Shabangu came third in the high jump at 1.85metres, while Patric Duvenhage scored first place in both the shot put and discus categories.
