Public meeting for Region B

ROSEBANK - A PUBLIC meeting will be held for residents in Johannesburg's Region B area.

Every year the City of Johannesburg engages with local residents in a series of public meetings before the increase of rates is implemented on 1 July.

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck stated in his newsletter that the meetings provided the opportunity for residents to both object and comment on

the increases, and to request capital expenditure projects for their area and ward.

Truluck noted that the proposed increases this year were as follows: electricity is expected to go up by 12.7 percent, water will rise between 11 percent to 17 percent depending on how much is used, sewage will increase by 15 percent, refuse collection by eight percent and rates by six percent.

The City will also continue to move forward with the Integrated Development Plan (see draft by clicking here.)

Residents are encouraged to attend the public meeting at Mark’s Park on Judith Road in Emmarentia on 16 April from 6pm onwards.

Attendees will be allowed to ask questions, and community members are encouraged to submit written comments and requests to City officials.

The closing date for written comments and requests is 30 April.

Wards 90, 87 and 117 in the Rosebank Killarney Gazette’s distribution area fall under Region B.
