Fairmount Bowls Club handed final notice

FAIRMOUNT - THE FAIRMOUNT Bowling Club, located on 64 George Avenue in Sandringham, has been handed a final notice with regards to breaching their lease agreement with the City of Joburg Property Company.

Ward 72 councillor Steven Kruger said, “The lessee of the club is using the property to run a night club, a restaurant and hosts karaoke nights. As a result of this, a number of residents have come forward complaining about the noise levels. There is no problem with the actual bowling club, the other activities are causing the complaints.”

According to the agreement that was signed on 25 February 2009 between the City of Joburg Property and the lessee, the grounds were only to be used for sporting events and incidental social activities.

Kruger said, “The Joburg Property Company issued a notice to the bowling club ordering the lessee to comply with the lease agreement within 14 days, failing which further legal action would be taken.”
