Corlett Drive home to pickpocket syndicate

JOBURG - CORLETT Drive has become a haven for a group of males who are targeting bystanders for their wallets and cellphones by pickpocketing them.

Patrick Modetse said, “I was standing on Corlett Drive when I felt a male nudge me. I immediately felt to see if my wallet and cellphone were still there. I noticed that my wallet had gone. I managed to grab the male who bumped into me. I searched him, however my wallet wasn’t on him. I suspect he passed it on to another person to get away with.”

Sergeant Nurse Sanyane said, “This is an age old problem throughout the country. The public need to be aware of their surroundings and always look out for suspicious individuals. Make sure you keep your valuables stowed away safely.”

Modetse added, “I use Corlett Drive everyday in order to get to work. There are suspicious-looking individuals who use the road all the time. The public need to be careful.”
