Family, friends and fans gather for Flabba memorial

JOBURG - A memorial service was held in memory of rapper, Flabba who's real name is Nkululeko Habedi.

Family, friends and fans gathered at The Bassline nightclub in Newtown, Johannesburg on 11 March where his life was remembered. The Bassline was filled to capacity and while people waited for proceedings to start, Habedi’s music was played over the speakers.

The master of ceremonies, Peter Lynch welcomed Flabba’s family, members of his band Skwatta Kamp and the fans present.

Flabba’s eldest sister Nomonde, spoke on behalf of the family and said her brother was a “loyal man”. “We have all lost a brother,” she said.

Habedi was stabbed to death in the early hours of 9 March at his home in Alexandra, allegedly by his girlfriend Sindisiwe Precious Manqele.

The next court date is set for 16 March where Manqele is expected to apply for bail.
