Attentive Care Workshop hosted by Rand Aid Association

LYNDHURST - Rand Aid Association hosted an Attentive Care Workshop on 26 February at Inyoni Creek in Lyndhurst. Facilitated by the South African Care Forum, in association with the North-West University (Optentia), the workshop explored the theme of attentive care.

Professor Andries Baart, a professor of Presence and Care at the Department of Cultural Studies at Tilburg University, shared a profound message at the workshop about the importance of ‘presence’ in care, based on years of accumulated research with practice-based evidence.

Margie van Zyl Chapman, chairperson of the South African Care Forum, said, “One of the SA Care Forum’s objectives is providing opportunities for those in the care sector to learn and develop, and this session proved stimulating, challenging and indeed gave a much-needed perspective on ‘being’ in the role of carer.”

Rand Aid Association is a 112-year-old non-profit organisation that manages retirement villages and care centres. They have adopted a people-centered care approach.
