Pit bull owner comes forward to defend her pet

NORWOOD - The owner of a Pit Bull was approached on Grant Avenue in Norwood on 1 March by two members of the public who complained about her pet. Leanne Johnson was walking her Pit bull along Grant Avenue when two males approached her and started verbally abusing her and her pet, Chloe.

Johnson said, “Two men were walking down the opposite side of Grant Avenue and started saying that I should put down my Pit bull, Chloe.” According to her, one of the unknown men said, “You should put that animal down or maybe we should do it for you”.

Johnson said the two men seemed to be following her as she walked down Grant Avenue and turned into Frances Road.

Johnson added, “I lost grip of Chloe however she ran away in the other direction. I managed to find her and calm her down. She was cowering at the bottom of our gate. I thought it was very brave for the two men who I thought were following me as Chloe looks like she could take on a lion, however she is just a softy. I would like to let everyone know that Pit bulls are not always dangerous and aggressive. I feel it is how you raise an animal that defines him or her.”

The two males apparently laughed at her chasing after Chloe and carried on down Grant Avenue.

Do you feel that owners of pets should keep them on their leads at all times? Do you think Pit bulls are aggressive?
