One injured after taxi collides with school mini-bus

HILLBROW - A taxi collided with a school mini-bus, which was transporting pupils, on the corner of Claim and Bruce Street in Hillbrow on the evening of 6 March.

Hillbrow police spokesperson Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo said the taxi, which was carrying about 10 passengers, clipped the right-hand-side of the school mini-bus. This caused the taxi to crash into a concrete pillar on the side of the road.

Zondo confirmed there was one minor injury. “It seems that one person from the taxi has broken their leg, no injuries from the school boys, they are just in shock,” he said.

George Moraitis, director of C.A.M Security Services Hillbrow who was on the scene, stated that he is just relieved that no one got seriously injured.

North Eastern Tribune‘s calls to the school went unanswered and the website’s staff are still awaiting comment from the emergency services and Metro police. This is a developing story and updates will follow.
