Caught in the act

CRAIGHALL PARK- A SHOOT-OUT occurred between police and four suspects on 23 February just after midnight after police interrupted four suspects stripping down a Toyota Hilux on the roof-top parking lot of a local shopping centre.

According to Parkview police spokesperson Lloyd Ramovha, police on a routine patrol in the area, spotted a Toyota Hilux bakkie and Audi A4 parked side by side .

“Both cars had no registration plates and they had their doors wide open,” said Ramovha.

One of the suspects opened fire prompting the police to fired back.

The suspects managed to get away in the Audi leaving behind the Toyota Hilux bakkie.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the vehicle had been stolen earlier that evening at a garage in the south of Johannesburg.

According to Ramovha the car still had the selling price tag on it.

Ramovha said they suspect the vehicle was being stripped in an effort to locate and remove the tracking device.

Investigations are underway and no arrests have been made at this stage.
