The suspect broke into a vehicle and attempted to remove items out of the car. A member of the community saw the man and was able to notify the owner of the vehicle who confronted the suspect. The man attempted to flee the scene but members of the community apprehended him. The Yeoville police were called to the scene and arrested the suspect.
Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville police said, “We would like to thank the community for the wonderful work that they displayed in ensuring that the criminal was brought to book. If the community come forward and alert us of suspicious activity it only ensures that the streets are a safer place to be.”
The suspect is to appear in the Hillbrow Magistatres’ Court soon.
