Friday the 13th srtikes

BEREA - FRIDAY the 13th is unlucky for some, but for one visitor to a high rise flat in Berea, the 13th of February being a Friday turned out to be a nightmare.

Funi Ludwabe was subjected to being stuck in the building’s lift for five hours due to load shedding, on what was meant to be a short visit to a friend.

Ludwabe said, “I was on my way to join my friend who lives on the 7th floor. I decided to take the lift. I felt it move slightly and then stop.”

According to Ludwabe the lift light went out after a minute and then she started to panic.

She added, “I did not know what to do as my cellphone had died earlier during the day so I just felt around for where the buttons were and hoped that there would be an emergency one.”

Ludwabe said she eventually lost her voice due to screaming for help. She said, “I screamed and screamed for help, I then lay down. I really do not want this to happen to anyone else. Please get informed when it comes to load shedding as this may become a reality for anyone. I managed to get out when power was restored in the neighbourhood.”
