Update: Killarney sewerage nears end

KILLARNEY - According to Kevin Rakow, golf director at the Killarney Country Club, the entire sewerage line from the River Road side of the course to the middle of the golf course has completely disintegrated and very little of the original piping that was laid 100 years ago exists.

“The sewerage is running into the storm water,” said Rakow.

Rakow confirmed that Johannesburg Water was working as quickly as possible, but had faced many challenges.

“I think we are nearing the end as they promised that the issue will be resolved by 18 February at the latest,” Rakow said.

Rakow also added that club members had complained about the health hazard regarding the cholera dangers in the water.

“The sewerage leak has negatively affected our revenue and some of our members are playing elsewhere until the problem is sorted,” Rakow said.

“I think that all parties concerned are committed to resolving this crisis as quickly and effectively as possible,” Rakow added.
