Resident Plants a Vegetable Patch of Charity

SANDRINGHAM - A Sandringham resident, Lana Axelrod, is a woman on a mission.

While considering how best to landscape her pavement on Avondale Road, Axelrod decided to use her dilemma as an opportunity to nourish the needy people living around her by planting a vegetable garden with a difference.

She decided to plant a combination of spinach, lettuce, tomatoes and similar vegetables on her pavement with the intention of the greens to be harvested by hungry passersby.

“I’ve even thought of putting up a sign to invite those in need to harvest, while also considering that others may need to do the same,” said Axelrod.

She hoped that her kind intentions would be an inspiration to other residents in the area. “I think that it is a good idea for people to follow suite.”

What do you think about Lana Axelrod’s initiative? Perhaps you feel inspired, or maybe you have done similar acts of kindness.
