Choc gets two new vehicles donated

HOUGHTON - Choc Childhood Cancer Foundation received two vehicles at a handover ceremony on 2 February.

Sophie Ndhlovu, fundraising and events co-ordinator at Choc, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the organisation to Gauteng Toyota Knights.

Martin Ervee, the national vice-chairperson of the vehicle company said, “We do community upliftment, and work with many individual charities. [But we also] choose one charity for the group to do fundraising events with throughout the year.”

Ndhlovu stated that the company had assisted with Barnyard fundraisers and a golf day last year, which assisted with raising funds for one vehicle.

She added that they were humbled when Toyota South Africa decided to match the donation by providing another vehicle to the organisation. “The second vehicle was a big surprise,” she said.

Ndhlovu said the two seven-seater vehicles would be used to transport children two and from the hospital at Choc’s Diepkloof location.

In Choc’s end of year review published in the Rosebank Killarney Gazette in December last year, the organisation had mentioned the need for an extra vehicle. Now thanks to Toyota Knights, Choc is now better equipped to cater to young survivors of cancer.
