Red Ants move into Rouxville

ROUXVILLE - THE RESIDENTS of Main Street in Rouxville awoke to the sounds of the Red Ants removing furniture out of the Royal Village on 30 January.

The Red Ants cordoned off the entire section of the road from Louis Botha Avenue to Roux Street.

They were carrying the evicted occupiers belongings and placing them at the end of the street for removal by trucks that were on the scene.

This follows an eviction order being granted by the South Gauteng High Court. The eviction order indicated that 23 tenants out of the 24 flats were to be evicted.

A resident residing directly across the street from Royal Village and who did not want to be named said, “I believe that some of the residents at Royal Village have not paid rent for the past three years. The place is overcrowded and poses a safety hazard.”
