Rock star Amanda Palmer at 1Fox

FERREIRASDORP - World-famous singer, songwriter and author Amanda Palmer will perform at 1Fox on 30 January.

Palmer’s performance promises to be a not-to-be-missed celebration of the musician’s first visit to South Africa.

“Yes it is true, even though we cannot believe it either. We at 1Fox are beyond excitement to announce that… Amanda Palmer will give one free ‘ninja’ performance in our Good Luck Bar Shed,” announced 1Fox in an official press release.

Originally making waves as one half of internationally-acclaimed punk-cabaret duo The Dresden Dolls, Palmer went on to break out as a polymath solo artist performing to sold-out crowds from the Sydney Opera House, to Boston Symphony Hall, to last-minute little bars in Iceland.

Palmer charted in the Billboard Top 10 and is most recently a New York Times best-seller with her new book, ‘The Art of Asking’, which was based on a TED talk she delivered about street performing, couch-surfing and crowd-funding.

The talk garnered over 10 million views online and the songstress has over 1 million Twitter followers, blogs incessantly, and has been hailed as ‘the queen of social media’ by the Huffington Post.

Entrance to the show is free, but standing space in the Good Luck Bar Shed is limited as only 1 200 people will be allowed into the performance area.

“While entrance is free, fans will be asked to make donations to the Starfish Greathearts Foundation on the night. Starfish supports over 16 000 children orphaned or vulnerable in South Africa by working in partnership with community-based organisations,” the press release stated.

The trader’s market will accept entrance on a first come, first serve basis and doors will open at 4pm.

The market will open at 12pm and trading will resume until 10pm.
