JOBURG - Two Sacred Heart College pupils on the Student Sponsorship Programme (SSP) have made their school proud.

Two Sacred Heart College pupils on the Student Sponsorship Programme have made their school proud.

Siphumelele Zulu and Ryvern Coetzee were each awarded certificates for good performance. Zulu, a Grade 12 pupil from Thembisa, obtained two distinctions in English and life orientation; while Coetzee, a Grade 11 pupil from Fourways, was awarded a certificate of recognition for obtaining five distinctions in accounting, Afrikaans, English, life orientation and mathematics.

The two pupils were awarded at the programme’s annual graduation and prize giving ceremony at St John’s College in Houghton.

Former United States citizen and co-founder of the programme and trustee, Teresa Clarke attended the prize giving along with her executive director, Jenny Ketley.

Clarke urged pupils to always follow their instinct. “I followed mine in co-founding the South African chapter,” she said.

“If you too have a vision, follow your gut and everything else will fall in to place.”

Ketley said success only came through hard work and paying special attention to their learning.
