Roads closed for Dare Devil run

SAXONWOLD - The Hollard Dare Devil Run will take place on 30 January from 12pm to 5pm.

Residents should take note that there will be road closures around Zoo Lake, Saxonwold and Forest Town to accommodate the event.

Ward 87 councillor Amanda Forsythe informed residents that the closures would be on rolling basis with each closure expected to last about 30 minutes. Runners will be wearing purple speedos and the estimated attendance is between 3 000 to 5 000 people.

The event aims to raise funds for cancer screening and awareness programmes for prostate and testicular cancer in disadvantaged communities across South Africa.

The race will start at Zoo Lake and head in the direction of Saxonwold, across Jan Smuts Avenue and along Erswold Way.

For further details of the route residents can consult the map.

There will be marshaling points at every street corner and the race is not expected to cause too much disturbance.
