A world of tastes come together
GREENSIDE – The Greensider food market is resurrecting the community through food.
Joburg is known for its numerous food markets, but the Greensider is different and could rather be described as an artisan food market with a cause.
An idea that began over a few drinks at a Serbian night held at the MishMash bar in Greenside, has turned into a venture to revive Greenside.
Business man Nicolas Panayiotou partnered up with co-owners of the Balkan Burger, Lidija and Bojan Ivanovic to start the Greensider.
Bojan explained, “We are trying to attract people who stopped coming here – the families and the older professionals who went to Parkhurst and Rosebank, because there was a bad connotation with Greenside.”
The Greensider brings together multiple stalls under one roof where patrons can purchase anything from gourmet burgers at the Balkan Burger, to coconut cuisine at The Coconut Kitchen, to a selection of craft beers on tap at the Craft Beer Bar.
The main attraction at the Greensider is being food and drinks, but that shouldn’t distract patrons from the friendly and welcoming service from all the tenants.
