Woman raped and brutally murdered in Orange Grove

ORANGE GROVE - The body of a woman was found on 6th Street in Orange Grove in the early hours of 25 January.

The woman, who was allegedly raped and strangled, was allegedly found by a Gap security guard according to the ANC secretary for Ward 73, Stanley Letsoalo.

Wandile Yani, the vice chairman of the Norwood Community Police Forum, said, “Our police must not let us down and we the Community Police Forum (CPF) are appealing to the community to work with the police and come forward if they know of any information. The way she was murdered was completely unacceptable.” According to Yani, the woman was a hairdresser and was popular among the residents within the area.

Sergeant Nurse Sanyane of the Norwood police said, “The police are investigating the case. We urge residents to come to us if they know anything regarding the matter.”

Norwood Police Station confirmed a murder docket had been opened.
