Police hunt alleged cop shooter

BRIXTON - THE hunt is on for a suspect who allegedly shot a cop earlier today.

Twitter users reacted with shock to the news of a Brixton police officer who was allegedly shot in Brixton this morning.

‘PigSpotter Cliff’, who informs motorists of police activity around Johannesburg, tweeted at 1.58pm, “#ATT Avoid the Brixton area if possible. SAPS launched manhunt … for the suspects that just shot an officer.”

Meanwhile, a midday Facebook post by Dal Fouche Community Association claimed that the officer was shot in the hand when he interrupted an armed robbery by three men on Putney Road. The post stated that the officer was en route to hospital at the time.

Facebook user Mohammed Jeena commented on a report posted by Public Servant News Network Johannesburg, “Caught 1 of 3 guys who broke into our neighbours house this morning we chased him from roof to roof when the cops came they wanted all the people who were chasing him they didn’t care about him breaking into the house, so I don’t have mercy for cops sorry to say.”

On being approached for information, members of Brixton Police Station refused to provide any details of the manhunt, confirming only that the incident was ongoing.
