Accident on Armadale street

SYDENHAM - An accident occurred on the corner of Armadale Road and 10th Avenue in Sydenham at 6.40am on 12 January when a Volvo crashed into a Mercedes-Benz, after the Mercedes-Benz skipped a stop street.

The drivers both sustained minor injuries and were sent to Linksfield Clinic.

A witness on the scene, Cas Ferris, said, “The Volvo was travelling down 10th Avenue when a Mercedes-Benz skipped a stop street on Armadale Road. I suspect it may have to do with how close the walls are to the streets in Sydenham. Road users have a very limited view of what they can see and as a result, edge too far forward into the road.”

Drivers are recommended to take precaution when it comes to approaching stop streets and traffic lights in the area as it is becoming a regular occurrence. Vehicles are unable to check if there is oncoming traffic due to obstacles that block their view.
