Another successful year for Torah Academy

OAKLANDS - A consistently outstanding record was upheld at Torah Academy this year, as matric pupils did themselves and their teachers proud.

Pupils and staff had much to celebrate as they received matric results to uphold the Chabad Jewish school’s tradition of academic excellence.

Since its inception, Torah Academy has never failed to attain a 100 pass rate, but this year saw the school add a 100 percent university exemption rate to its achievements.

At Torah Academy Girls’ High School, top achiever Mushky Bacher walked away with an impressive six distinctions, Ariella Cobb and Estee Masinter each achieved five distinctions, and Chana Chaikin and Dinah Gien took home four distinctions each.

In total, one third of Torah Academy’s students achieved A symbols, a further third received Bs, and 45 percent attained four or more distinctions.

“We are particularly proud of the results in view of Torah Academy’s vision of a bigger picture of success,” commented Rabbi Dovid Hazdan, dean of Torah Academy.

“The preparation for matric is a particular ingredient in a broader pursuit of excellence in education. These same students have simultaneously been afforded in-depth studies in Talmud, Chumash (Bible), Jewish law and philosophy. Our results show that excellence in Torah studies can go hand in hand with the highest standards in secular studies.”
